growth

this web page is about andrew's growth. it will be updated frequently to show his development. for the first few months, we will make weekly updates. next to a paragraph of text that will give explanations on his development, you will find a picture illustrating the idea. you will be able to see that picture on a greater scale by clicking on it.

week 1

this is the first week of Andrew's life. this picture is of his first minute! andrew was born after 6 hours of labor and two hours of hard pushing by his mother. he was stuck in the birth canal for most of those two hours. after the first half hour of pushing, the nurse warned us that he would have a cone head. indeed, when he was born, the doctor (debbie klein, md) commented, "look at that major head". his cone head was noticeable for a few days, and then disapeared. i kind of liked it myself.

week 2

during his second week, andrew left his parents, and especially his mother, sleepless. we assume he had gotten used to the daily rocking that naturally happens during daytime when mother walked around pregnant, occupying herself with a million things. at night, when mother became quiet, we remember him waking up and starting to kick. i guess he didn't change this habit once hw was born. these are tough nights for us, especially for tara, but so worth it. during the second week, andrew had the chance of having the visit of his grammy, kim. she treated him (and the parents) with very much care and helped quite a bit during the long nights. he also had his first visit to the pediatrician (mitchell adams, do), everything is looking great.

week 3

during this week, andrew became very aware. he started to go on walks with his mom almost every day and went to church for his first sacrament meeting. tara says that he has been "loosing some hair". we feature him in his red outfit for this week. his face is much less round than it was at birth. we are not quite sure what the color of his eyes will be, even though dark would genetically make sense. some days, nonetheless, they really look blue...the future will tell.

week 4

almost one month! four weeks! time flies! this last week, we gave andrew his first bath immersed in the sink. he holds his neck quite well and can turn himself from being on his belly to his back. he went to church for all three hours. we even took him on a hike in rock canyon for about 2 and a half hours. he still wakes up quite a bit during the night, but we have hope (tara especially)! we've noticed that he has started babbling. we're having tons of fun!
